Impacts of high fat diet on ocular outcomes in rodent models of visual disease
2021, Experimental Eye ResearchCitation Excerpt :ERGs are useful in assessing ocular diseases such as DR, retinitis pigmentosa, and AMD. For example, declines in cognitive and motor function that can occur in diabetes often correlate with retinal dysfunction, with retinal deficiencies occurring prior to other symptoms (Allen et al., 2019; Aung et al., 2013; Motz et al., 2020; Pardue et al., 2014; Shirao and Kawasaki, 1998). The amplitude and timing of ERG waveforms reflect the response of the retina, neural tissue, to a light stimulus.
