BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care (BMJ DRC) Social Media Editor
BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care, owned by BMJ and affiliated with the American Diabetes Association, is an open access journal committed to publishing high-quality basic and clinical research articles regarding type 1 and type 2 diabetes and associated complications. The online-only format allows for continuous updates and serves as an invaluable resource to the multidisciplinary community of endocrinology, public health/prevention and internal medicine. First published in 2013, BMJ DRC has an Impact Factor of 4.179.
BMJ DRC is seeking a new social media intern, to start January 2023. The initial appointment will be for 1 year, with a renewable option for a second year. The goal of this position is to disseminate BMJ DRC publications to increase the journal’s influence and readership and to devise creative strategies to increase reach through social media. The applicant should already be facile with social media (primarily Twitter). The position is ideal for a junior faculty member with a research interest in diabetes.
Expectations:
- Work with the social media team to prepare one social media post for every article published
- Plan and deliver content across different platforms using Sprout Social
- Devise creative posts highlighting BMJ DRC articles on social media
- Approximately 3-4 hours per week time commitment
The Social Media Editor will:
- Report directly to the journal’s Editor-in-Chief
- Work with authors to prepare one social media post for every article published
- Devise creative posts highlighting BMJ DRC and related articles on social media
- Participate in editorial meetings (usually remotely by telephone or videoconference)
- Devote approximately 3-4 hours per week time commitment
Any training and support required will be provided by BMJ’s digital communications team. The Social Media Editor will receive a nominal stipend.
